2006 Update - I am not currently taking birth doula clients, but am happy to help you find another doula in the area to work with. I am leaving the information about my practice here as an example of what is available from our local doula community.
Bringing another baby into the family is an important event for big brothers and sisters. If you are planning to have your child or children present at the birth of their sibling, they need dedicated support.
If you are planning a hospital birth, each older child will need to have his or her own, dedicated attendant to be permitted in the birthing room.
As your sibling doula, I will meet with you and your children in the prenatal period to get to know each other and explore what role your child or children will play in the birth. During labor, I will stay with your older child, answering their questions in a way that is right for their age. I will ensure their comfort level by following their lead in the level of participation they want at the birth. My focus is on them, not the birth itself.
The fee for these services is $350.
To support your child during the
birth of their sibling, a sibling doula
will provide:
· Prenatal visits
· Sibling birth planning
· Continuous Support at the birth place
· Post partum check-in
