Eleven studies have shown the following effects of doula support:
- Labors are shorter
- There are fewer complications
- Cesarean rates are reduced
- There is less need for oxytocin to speed up labor
- Use of forceps is reduced
- Women request less pain medication & epidurals
I work with a partner to provide continuous care and support before, during, and after baby is born. I am your doula-by-night, and my partner is your doula-by-day. By working with two doulas, you benefit from our combined birth knowledge and experience.
In two prenatal visits, you meet with both of us so you are comfortable and familiar with how we work together. This is also your time to discuss tools to use during labor to help you feel comfortable as decisions are made. During labor, we overlap our attendance by at least 30 minutes, which gives you a burst of support right when you need it the most. In the postpartum period, you have access to both of us, which gives you two places to call with questions.
The fee for these services is $900.
Some of the services we provide:
- Two prenatal visits
- 24/7 on-call availability starting at two weeks prior to your due date
- Attendance at your labor starting when you need us
- Assistance in the first few hours after birth, including breastfeeding support
- One postpartum visit
