At its roots, belly dancing was a dance done by women with women, often as a part of fertility and childbearing rituals. Harken back to these beginnings in a 300 Weeks belly dancing class for the childbearing year. Then keep dancing with your child as he or she grows with our other bellydance classes!
Mama Belly Dance:
what better way to celebrate your role as mom than by celebrating the belly? Join this class, designed for prenatal and post-partum mamas, to explore what your body can do through belly dance.
Offered at Bloom Yoga Studio & the McGaw YMCA, You’ll learn which belly dance moves are useful to you during labor, as well as which moves can help you soothe a fussy baby. Postpartum mamas – come on your own or wear your baby (in the carrier of your choosing) during class and share the experience with them!
Previous dance experience is not necessary. Please dress in comfortable, standard workout attire and get ready to move!

Parent/Tot Belly Dance:
Come and play, belly-style! With a focus on movement and fun, you and your toddler can experience the rhythms and motions of bellydance at your own pace.
Best suited for walking babies and toddlers (ages 1—3), though younger and older siblings are also welcome to join in on the fun.
Coin-belts and zills (finger symbols) will be made available for the babies during class so they can experiment with the noises that come with bellydance.

Parent/Child Belly Dance:
Learn belly dancing together with your kids in a relaxed, welcoming environment.
Offered at the McGaw YMCA, this class will include some simple combinations, instead of complex choreography, in addition to the basic bellydance moves.
Previous dance experience is not necessary. Dress in comfortable, standard workout attire. Caregivers and children ages 4 - 10 are welcome.
